About the CKO
Briayna's community involvement and calling to public service began in elementary school when she took it upon herself to learn Spanish in order to help tutor the increasing Hispanic and Latinx population at her school. Her upbringing by politically active and civically engaged elders has resulted in valuing cultural awareness, social and racial justice, the political process, and a desire to bring intersectionality to politics. While completing her B.A. in International Relations at High Point University in North Carolina, she completed multiple internships related to local/municipal elections, federal issues, and marketing. BKC LLC was created a few years after her return home, as she was pulled back into hometown politics, and quickly realized people were recommending her to others.
Over the years she emerged as a natural leader, and has become a go-to person for advice, strategy, and resources (information and people). Briayna spends much of her time traveling and reading to increase her exposure to other cultures, places, and concepts. Her current long-haul work is that of transforming research and community memories into a historical narrative about the Black history of her hometown.
